I saw a documentary a while back about the building of this dam and it breaks my heart to see what will be destroyed, including so many lives. They call it progress. Newt
In general, large-reservoir dams almost always turn out bad because upstream of the dam the water is still and sediment settles out, silting up the basin and eventually reducing the basin's capacity to almost nothing. Damming a lake also ruins it for kayaking because the water level fluctuates hundreds of feet and you end up with huge, dead mud flats. I'm a kayaker and I hate dams. Dam(ned) things... What did the fish say when it hit the concrete? Dam! ;)
