Possibly a Clethra or similar. However, most plant species are tropical - it could belong to a group not seen up here.

Ron, I looked at at least 80 pictures of Clethra and most all of them have the flower growing upright and in my plant the flowers hang in a cluster. It is growing in a subtropical clima, if that helps.
    Thanks a million anyway.

For what i can tell, it's a clethra pringlei (native of Mexico). I have the plant here in Belgium but have to protect it in winter.

jcblue, I am from Mexico, and I did not know that the plant is from Mexico. This one is the first I have seen.
I have looked in google/yahoo images and none of the "clethra" that I have seen looks like the photo I posted.
    I will keep looking though...
    Thank you anyway.

Difficult spelling! The version Ledenbergia seguierioides gives more hits in Google.

Thank you so much Sigtris for coming back to tell us all the name. It is another of those exquisite plants/ flowers that have been driving me dotty. More lax and softer than a Clethra. I really wish I could grow this stunning beauty.

Daniel, this would be a good one for Botany Photo of the day now it has been id!
Not much on www about it at all. Hard to imagine that it is in the same genera as Phytolacca, Phytolaccaceae:

Good pic on Flickr. Taken at the National Botanical Garden in Belgium!
jcblue13, you will have to go and investigate, I guess it must be in a glasshouse. Sigh!
