    Hello,

I have a Madagascar Palm and the past couple days I've noticed that one of the trunks (the plant has 2 stalks, or trunks- whatever their called lol) has lost all of its leaves and a top part was starting to separate. Well today the top part, that looked like it was separating, came off. What does this mean? It the plant dying, or is that to transplant?

Here's are some pics of the separation.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Not sure what it is, but it isn't a palm - that's possibly good news for you, as if the top breaks off a palm, it dies. Whether this will die or not, depends on what exactly it is.

I contacted a Master Gardener and they said it's trunk rot that looks like it's trying to heal. They recommended stop watering for a week, unless the plant shows signs of stress. I'm contacting them again in two weeks.
