Identification: tiny purple "dabs"

    found yesterday growing on standing dead deciduous tree. tip of thumb shown for size reference. location:perry county indiana (borders ohio river.)

    Lovely! The colour suggests an Ascocoryne species, though this does not look like the one I'm familiar with.

    i think you got it. looking at the Ascocoryne on 'google images', i'd guess A. cylichnium. i failed to note species of tree, which would have helped.
