My neighbour sent me to see this shrub at the dry cleaner at Arbutus and Broadway. I have come across the name Loropetalum chinense. Is that what this is? I was looking up Hamemelis to get the term "fringe flower".

Thanks, Daniel. Hamamelidaceae (witch hazel) family, I'm pleased that I recognized. Wikipedia says the name Loropetalum "refers to the shape of the flowers and comes from the Greek loron meaning strap and petalon meaning petal".
