[edited by wcutler July 27, 2011]: The contents of this thread were in a thread called Yama-zakura. We're pretty sure all but one of those trees is not Yama-zakura. As of spring, 2011, we were calling these not-upright trees with single white blossoms and coarsely-serrated leaves 'Syodoi' hybrids. [edited by wcutler December 28, 2011]: Now we're calling them sargentii hybrids. Or "unknown sargentii hybrids", but I'd rather have them indexed under "S". Locations are listed here. Kitsilano, but posted in Spire, Pandora, Yama-zakura, Schmittii, one mystery; was "Spires or what?", on Balsam north of 3rd. Killarney but posted in Ornamental Cherries: north side of 46th at Raleigh, and north side of 48th at Raleigh, in the park Hastings-Sunrise: on Graveley, between Renfrew and Kaslo Riley Park: E 27th, Fraser to St George Kensington-Cedar Cottage. all originally identified as something else:13th & Clark 2008 post (posting #45) 26th & St Catherines (posting #99) 27th between Fraser and St George, see photos in an Ornamental Cherries thread. 32nd and Windsor (posting #100) and also same thread, #105, #107 (I think all the same tree) Templeton, between 10th and 11th, see photos
Some locations not mentioned in the previous posting: Arbutus Ridge: west side of Quilchena Park, see photos in an Ornamental Cherries thread. Dunbar-Southlands: Marine Crescent, see photos in an Ornamental Cherries thread, the last photos in the posting. Note from wcutler: I think these are on 50th, west of Marine Crescent. Hastings-Sunrise: 6th and Slocan, see photos. And Graveley and Kaslo, see photos. Shaughnessy: inside VanDusen, marked Sargentii, see photos in an Ornamental Cherries thread. Victoria-Fraserview: Gladstone, between 48th and 49th, at least two nice old trees, more upright than 'Somei-yoshino', see photos.
