Late May visit

    My favorite rhododendrons were Rhododendron fortunei subsp. fortunei from Asia and Rhododendron calendulaceum from North America

    Most interesting plant was Acer erianthum in bloom, native to China. Second picture was taken 2 years ago in June, already with some fruits

    These Eucalyptus coccifera, Bletilla striata and Vancouveria hexandra are just in their best time

    I wanted to see these inflorescences that grew upright instead of hanging down. Douglas Justice pointed me to the location and told me that the name means "hairy flowers". My camera doesn't really manage to capture this all that well, but you can get the idea, mostly from the hairy young samaras. I would not have noticed this without a lens or the camera.
