    Hello,

I've had my little Dragon Tree for a year now, I got it for my house, and it was doing really good until I left my house for 3 weeks, thinking that it would do fine, as I had done it before. Unfortunately, the weather's been very bad, and it froze for a few days inside the house, and all the leaves turned really dark green, and are all down. It looks pretty bad...
But I'm thinking that maybe it could survive? I really like this plant, and I feel awful that I left it to freeze. Should I cut off all the leaves, and leave the trunk exposed? I don't know what to do to see if it's completely dead. I wish it wasn't, and I hope somebody can tell me how to see if it's still alive, and if it is, what would be the best way to nurse it back to life.

    Many thanks!

Just for clarity's sake post a photo' so we know for certain which
'Dragon Tree' we're dealing with. Also if you know, how cold was it?

    Hello Saltcedar,

Thank you for your reply! Here is a couple of photos of my little Dragon Tree. The trunk seems healthy (I mean, the color and the fact that it's not gone soft or anything). I don't know to what extent the temperature dropped, but as all our pipes froze - and then exploded... :( - I guess it was well below 0°C, I'd venture to say it probably dropped to -2 or -3°C.

What do you think?? Could it survive?

Dracaena marginata (your plant) wouldn't survive frozen pipe-bursting cold.
Sorry. As you surmise well below 0c and of a long duration killed the
    roots and stems.

Ooh... How sad... I really liked it... Who knew it was going to get so cold (it's England after all, not Canada!!). If I had known, I never would have left it in the house while we were away... Anyway, thank you for the reply!
