My willow was planted a few years ago and was doing well. I cut off some dead branches last year. This year in early spring I cut off more dead branches. It started to grow some new leaves and was looking like it would fill in nicely. We went away for a few days and all the new leaves were dead. The trunk and branches have these little bumps all over it. Is there any hope for this tree and should I cut it down? Sorry to say this, but to me the tree looks beyond repair. Not knowing what is the cause of the disease, to be on the safe side, I would wait a few years before planting another shrub or tree in the same spot. In the meantime I would plant some nice flowers there instead.

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, I was afraid that I would have to cut it down.
