    Hello folks,

Can anyone help me with identifying the conk shown in the photos below?

I found it on a paper birch tree near Metrotown skytrain station. There were a couple of other dead-looking birches with broken tops and limbs in the area. The wood surrounding the conk is quite light.

One of these trees has foliage in the lower two thirds of the total crown height. The upper third looked dead.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for reading,
    Denis

    Hi Denis,
They look like turkey tails (Trametes). Thank you for including photos of the underside.
    cheers

    Thanks Frog,

I'll look it up tomorrow and compare it to the actual conk (which temporarily lives on my balcony.)

    Best,
    Denis
