'Pygmy' literally means "dwarf" and The American Conifer Society/ The British Conifer Society defines a dwarf as growing between 3"-6" per year... I think. It might be 2-6" per year.

grows less than one inch per year. dwarf: grows between 1-6 inches per year. Intermediate means 6-12 per year, and large growing is over 12" per year.

Looking at the image, and your description of its growth rate, I think that Cedrus deodora 'Pygmy' is a different cultivar than the one I bought at Cedrus deodara 'Pygmea'. That one grows only about 1/2" to 1" per year. I will start a separate thread with an image under that name.

Their collection had a lot of 'old school' names that weren't cross-checked with current or even 10-year ago 'current'.

Erhardt, Walter - 'List of Conifer Names' (2005); ISBN: 3800148813
    Cedrus deodara 'Pygmy' (Gotelli 1960)

This photo was taken at 'The Gotelli Collection' so whether 'old school' or not, this photo should be valid. Walter Erhardt does not list 'Pygmaea' but Obrizok, Robert A. lumps 'Pygmaea' & 'Pygmy' together as being the same. I suspect they are seperate cultivars.
