If you don't like pink flowers, best to stop reading now. That's this week's theme. Here is Rhododendron vernicosum, with Nadia in the photo to show how huge this is. I don't really know if it's large for this species, but it certainly seemed huge to us. Rhododendron fortunei subsp. discolor (Houlstonii Group), large but not as large as the first one. Rhododendron denudatum Rhododendron selense subsp. dasycladum Rhododendron pentaphyllum; sorry, this one's white and rather short, and the only one in this posting from the alpine garden. I only noticed the leaves, but Nadia was taken with the way the flowers all nod so you can't see inside any of them without holding them up. Here are two camellias, the first two Camellia japonica 'Doctor Tinsley' and the third one Camellia japonica 'Furo-an'. Cercis glabra, just in bud, with zig-zag stems. What really set us off on pink was the Staphylea holocarpa. So nice to see it back in bloom.
