Acer palmatum 'Alpine Surprise'

    This is a very new cultivar, with almost no information about it. I have a 1 year fraft, and it seems to be doing well. Don't know much about ultimate form, height, fall color, etc.

    The first pic is the foliage unfolding in spring. Very dark and dramatic!

    very pretty!!! do you happen to have updated pics and/or info on this cultivar? i love the ones with the dark purple/black/red leaves...

    No updated pics. This one got a little stressed this year in our drought, so it did not have anything to show for fall color. It seems like a pretty slow grower to me. I will watch it this next year and see if it will do a little better. This was its first year in the ground, and things always do better a year or two down the road.
