We had a week of unusually warm days here (Orléans, France) with temperatures up to 20° C whereas it's usually around 10-12° in the afternoons at this time of the year. I have this root cutting of Prunus 'Accolade' (3-4 yers old) that is flowering. Though it usually flowers early,( beginning of February), I've never seen that in December before!
Beautiful photos, @AlainK! It's rare to see flowers so early on 'Accolade' cherries, but not unheard-of here. There is a posting at https://forums.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/threads/west-end-stanley-park.35159/page-25#post-422474; the next posting links to two postings of 'Accolade' flowers in October. In spite of what the posting I linked to says, not even the branch is in "full bloom". These are not the "cherry of the 10th month", 'Jugaatsu-zakura' and 'Autumnalis Rosea', which in most years do get sparsely covered with flowers before the new year and in January, all over the tree. Of course, all those nice buds will succumb to any significant frost before spring.
