Hope tonight's frosts don't get to. We have -1°C tonight. Last night it said 2°C and a frost, so I hate to think what it will be tonight. Good to see some growth though R. It's all about time.
@Acerholic hopefully that will be the end of it..3/4c with full cloud cover here so am going to chance my luck! Hope it’s not too harsh for you.
So much colour on this thread atm, I feel like I'm playing catch up all the time. But mine are getting there slowly. Here are a few from this morning. Autumn moon, Westonbirt Red, Shirazz, Coral pink, Red dissectum and Wills Devine.
My Coral Pink is probably the worst at suffering from windburn when it gets hot. How does yours cope?
Tbh J, not too bad. Which is a surprise as I've heard of others that say the same as you. It doesn't like drying winds though, as we had last year.
The colors seem brighter this year maybe because of the cold temperatures? I am also seeing some good growth especially on my Aconitifolium. Others are Corallinum, Shirazz, Osakazuki, Fireglow, Indian summer, Jordan, Watnong and Ruysen.
Hi Nik, yes my Sensu is doing very well. It is a special tree indeed. It is still a baby but is growing nicely so hopefully it will be as nice as yours in a few years.
Well, I think this might be my last dry photos for a while, as rain is forecast every day it seems over the next two weeks, But it is needed. So here are a few before the heavy stuff comes in a while. Sazanami, Beni tsukasa, Alpenweiss and Kinran.
Found Acer campestre 'Postelance' at a nursery today in CT. Omg is was so hard not to bring it home (I had my wife with me, lol). I'm sure it will turn up on the property somewhere :) It's a most have!
They are the voice of reason in our crazy heads D. Regarding Acer Campestre 'Postelance'. They are everywhere over here as the Campestre is our only native maple. I've seen some that are massive hedges. Sorry I don't have a photo to share atm. But needless to say the en mass orange Autumn colours look amazing. Now to tell your wife your just popping out to buy her some chocolates. Lol.
Meanwhile she should be telling you she's 'just popping out to buy you some maples' while she shops for her new 2021 summer wardrobe.
The rain over the last couple of days here in Southern England has been very welcome. It has also brought out the colours. So here are a few from moments ago in my garden to share. Amagi Shigure, Musashino, Reticulatum Purple, Ariadne, Moonrise and Beni hime.
Those sheets did the trick R. Lots of hard work, but look at them now. 'Beautiful'. A lovely garden is about hard work. I think a lot of newcomers to gardening don't realise this.
Hi all, it has been a very long time since I have posted on this forum. Some pictures from today: 1. 'Sawa chidori' and 'Olsen's frosted strawberry', 2. 'Beni tsukasa', 3. Unnamed selection
Lovely photos…I find Northamptonshire a rather baron place for a JM collector! Thank god for wheels and mail order!
