Went for a walk yesterday (24°C !), didn't take many photos, but this is a tree just labelled Acer palmatum 'Dissectum' :
So after E @emery and Alain @AlainK suggestion of faces behind the names 'with maples' of course, as it is a botanical forum, this is me a few moments ago by my Red Flash, Going Green and Katsura. Do join in everyone....
Hello everyone, I'm Derek! Derek @Acerholic told me I should participate. He also told me he knew what my shoes, fingers, and hands look like but not my face, lol.
I'm starting this thread after @emery requested photos of maple forum members with their maples on the Cheering ourselves up with maples thread. Now we all know that is a massive thread and so not to lose the photos amongst the 184 pages and counting posts, I thought I would start this. I will move members photos of themselves here later.
Had to Google it, the fame of TV celebrities rarely cross the borders - unless they become president, like Volodymyr Zelensky for instance... ;0)
Lol, that is very true, or an Arnold Schwarzenegger..... some are international but so many are not and we think that everyone knows our own countries celebs. Silly really!!
We in the U.K have a claim to Arnie as he lived and trained in Portsmouth for a while. Maybe he’ll be back.
You mean as the first "UK" president ? That's science-fiction ! <LOL> PS : something I sometimes say when ringing at a friend's place and she asks" Who is it?" "Sarah Connor?..."
Here you go D me with a maple , quite an apt picture really, me at my happiest digging something up and putting it in a container !!! This picture was taken on the 3rd May 2020 , just look at the condition of the tree in full leaf for goodness sake. Tamukeyama and i then dug a large Atro purpereum (see pic) both for one of my nieces who was having her garden landscaped and needed them lifting over the weekend for the builders who were coming on the Monday morning (bit more notice next time) both came up no problem came back to my house, lots of work done on them both over the year and they finally went back home last Friday and both of them are re budding and leafing out as normal and look very nice and will only get better. Only problem now is my other niece who just happens to live next door to her sister now wants two maples for her garden , so she's coming at the weekend to pick a couple which i said i would let her have for free. Good old uncle Mark to the rescue again !!
Absolutely brilliant M, now we have a face to the name. And btw, you have some incredibly lucky nieces.
Keep telling them that , only thing now is i will have to keep going down to check on the trees and make sure they are keeping up to the watering regime i have given them.
Ahh so there is a down side, lol. But they now obviously have the bug, so your maples will go on and on. A nice thought IMO.
Friendly faces, nice maples, you made my day ;-) The only thing is I never remember who is M, or D, or... I can't remember the last one. Time to take another tablet of paracetamol.
Appreciate seeing pictures! Now my next question, can I use your pictures on the new MS web site? Oddly, pictures of people looking pleased about maples are hard to come by. Here are a couple of my, though I don't always look that pleased.
Hello. It's nice to see your faces. I show you mine, taking advantage of the fact that I was recording a video that in the end has to be done again xD I am accompanied by Acer palmatum Seyriu, Atropurpurea, and Acer saccharum (left of the photo). And some hydrangeas. Regards!
AlainK, I believe he won his first Mr Universe whilst training at the City Gym in Portsmouth, but can’t for the life of me make out a Portsmouth accent.
And with your hair cut E, lol. I remember your video and you saying, "I should have had my hair cut". Very cheerful photos. Great for the thread.
