Haha, that's very true! Jordan may have the crown now, but as you say Summer Gold will still be going strong when we get into July and August, so I'm sure it'll win overall.

 

My big Summer Gold is in full sun, and it's starting to develop that colour it's famous for. Looking forward to watching that colour deepen and spread across all the branches:

From bright sun to rain: the same branch as in my post above, showing how the colours really pick up every bit of sun when it's out, and become so much more subtle when it's overcast:

 

Subtle and beautiful, haven't seen a Sumner Gold with those soft yellows Xi.

 

It definitely reacts to the light-levels around it and reflects back everything it gets: it is not normally nearly this understated!

This tree is rock solid. It is not phased by anything the British weather throws at it, and is showing off its summer colours so prettily now:

my Summer Gold has a small red sport for summer, looking like a flower. I just hope it's not temporary :)

 

Seems to be happening more and more with these mild Aureums. But agreed, quite a novelty to look at .

27th April 2023 and this one doesn't mind what is thrown at it weather wise. Frosts ,heat and drought, heavy constant rain. A very good cultivar indeed.
So here is my first Spring photo for this year of my Summer Gold.

 

16th May 2023 and my Summer Gold will be like this until November now. A real winner in my garden. I can't recommend thus one enough...such a very good tree.

 

7th September 2023 and my Summer Gold is delivering some lovely colours.

 

That's so beautiful , top of my wish list, too bad we can't get it here in Australia.

Absolutely, I love your Summer Gold.
Summers in Australia can get to high 30 degrees Celsius easily, sometimes even low 40s. My favourite Japanese Maples are yellow ones with red margins, even though we don't have Summer Gold but my Orange Dream(s) are very similar and they are fabulous, that's why I have 5 of them .

 

If Orange Dream survives in your location,then Summer Gold will definatly do well. Hope it gets to suppliers down under soon for you.
