25th April 2022 and my Amber Ghost is now putting out leaves. Early days, but I'm pleased.
Another Ghost I’ve been lucky enough to acquire - nice colours coming through…
Some better shots of Amber!
Mine starting to change for the summer now.
My two Ambers from the past week. Ground and potted , such a shame you don't get a longer period of the spring colours before they start to change into summer colours.
Totally agree M , always found that the reticulates are for Spring, as the greens are for Autumn.
11th May 2022 and my Amber Ghost enjoyed the very little rain we had here overnight.
24th May 2022 and the colours are just amazing at this time of year on my Amber Ghost. They seem to change daily.
How is Amber Ghost's sun tolerance?
I have a mostly full sun area in Oregon zone 8b that I am hoping to plant another maple in. There is already a Shirazz and Osakazuki in this same area and they have been totally fine with little to no leaf scorch.
Hi Connor, I keep my Amber Ghost in morning sun and afternoon and evening shade. I had it in more sun several years back, but it fried . It is now very happy. I'm in zone 8b UK. As I said on another thread, IMO the reticulated cultivars need protection.
27th May 2022 and I wanted to post this today after conversations last night.
This is kept in a lot of shade, and it enjoys this position. It will, keep these colours for most of the Summer also. If it has more sun it would brown at the lobe tips.
I'm trying her out in full sun. So far so good. Highest temp so far have been 88 F.
6th June 2022 and the Summer colours are now abundant on my Amber Ghost.
With rain of course, as it is England... lol.
12th June 2022 and what a difference in a week, sooo much green now.
Full sun. Pic taken today.
This is one beautiful maple!
My Scarlet Amber Ghost in autumn
Amber Ghost, Matt and Tim said it's outstanding and I think it rivals any red cultivar in fall color.
My Amber Ghost next to Ki Hachijo. It has gone almost even fluorescent red!
4th May 2023 and my Amber Ghost is coming out to play with the others on the forum...
Love the tree. Mine gets better every year. Seems like the JMs colors in general get better once they establish into the native soil. 3 years seems to be the magic number here in NC, USA for mine.
My Amber Ghost earlier in May
Very delicate tones of pink...
22st July 2023 and my Amber Ghost doing nicely this year.
