Cheering ourselves up with Maples

Hello acerholic.

This is the Acer oliverianum ssp formosanum.

I've look at my previous post of it newly budding and the leaves are red in that photo.

very strange indeed by I don't mind it. I find it interesting!

The move has done them no harm whatsoever Luke. Looks like a good amount of shade also in their new home. They will be very happy.

I sold my last Summer Gold and I really regretted it, but at the time I was in a position that they’d all have to go. Anyway, I found this at a local garden centre for £20. I reckon it’s got serious potential to be a really nicely branched little tree.

 

This is my Jordan (one of my top 10). And when I bought it last year it looked almost identical to the summer gold. Same garden centre too actually. I’m hoping the Summer Gold will put on similar growth to the Jordan. Fingers crossed.

 

Yes Derek lots of shade and wind protection. I’m really relieved and grateful that my hobby has been rescued.

Yes onward and upward with the addiction. Don't think there's any rehab clinic in the world that could help any of us TBH. Lol.

 

Summer Gold is under rated imo, what about you?

 

Totally agree Luke, it can handle lots of sun all Summer long and those Autumn colours are amazing, yellow leaves with outer edges tinted with orange. It brightens up any garden IMO, I would reccomend this maple to everyone. I'm very glad you have it. We will compare each others over the coming years.

 

Nowhere near the leaves of J @zfrittz and @monicasanchez, but we have to start somewhere.
And for Luke @Luke’s Maples here is Orion in it's new pot. As I said I have to keep them small now as I have run out of room.

 

Just got back from a loooong round trip to one of my favourite suppliers. Just written out the tags ready, and then it time to get them repotted. Photos to follow;-)
