Identification: Identification, would this be Turkey Tail?

Hi is this Turkey Tail? 2nd and 3rd photos are the underside. Fungus was quite wet, due to recent rain. Thank you.

 

I don't think so, but more information would be useful.

• What was it growing from: Ground, buried roots, stump ... ?
  
• What trees nearby? If stump, was it hardwood or conifer?
  
• Estimated diameter of one "frond?"
  
• Does either surface change colour when you handle or bruise?
  
• Any distinctive odour?
  
• Also can you confirm that the fronds/caps are fused with each other at base?

 

Hi Frog, it doesn't seem to change colour, quite a strong mushroomy smell, diameter about 10 to 15cm, it was on a conifer stump. The white edge has disappeared since I picked it.

I'm not too sure how I replied to the last post but it seems to have attached to your reply, from my side anyhow. Here's one more photo.looking at the underside with a magnifying glass it has pores...I hope that helps, thanks for your help.

 

It looks more like a Meripilus to me, which assumes black staining. I think I see a progressive increase in dark stain in your photos.
Or - If I am misinterpreting stain, then consider Bjerkandera.
I think this one would be easier to ID in person.
If you look these names up in your regional resources perhaps you will find a reasonable match.

I think you have Meripilus giganteus and M. sumstinei in your region, perhaps others as well.
