I bought this pear from a small produce store where it was labeled as 'Apple Pear'. That moniker is usually associated with the brown or yellow skinned Asian pears and this fruit doesn't look anything like those. Its skin is rough and somewhat bumpy and has a similar appearance to that of the Papple. Its ribbed shape is akin to that of a pumpkin. Unlike the typical pear, it is tapered on both top and bottom ends. Surprisingly I was unable to find any photos of this fruit on the web. Its taste and texture is similar to that of an Asian pear as is its juiciness.
