Anyone have issues with either Beni Hoshi/Ruby Stars or Kurenai Jishi? My Kurenai Jishi is very sparse this year. Also my Beni Hoshi/Ruby Stars has been loosing leaves since the spring and I have no idea why. Both of my Acer's are in containers.

I've found both of these trees to be trouble free and easy to grow. I have a Beni Hoshi in a container for about 5 years and it is doing great. It gets morning and afternoon sun until late in the day. I have a Kurenai Jishi in the ground on the north side of our house that is also doing fine. I've had that for about seven years and it only gets late afternoon direct sun but gets plenty of light. I suspect western Washington climate is not anything like that in New York. Pictures might give a clue.
