...please. I saw a lot of these Ash trees (Fraxinus sp.) in the North Okanagan Valley in BC this summer. I have been doing a bit of checking, but remain vague on a species. They seem to be confined to gardens in the main, but a few were naturalized. I grew up knowing the Ash Tree in the UK & am surprised to see these flourishing in quite arid conditions (albeit watered in some of the gardens). Any details? Ron...Ron...yoo hoo!
The tree is called a Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) www.missouriplants.com/Whitealt/Ailanthus_altissima_page.html Ian
Well, shows you what I know! Thanks Ian. Never heard of it before. No wonder I couldn't figure out what kind of Ash tree it was! This is in BC E flora, but with no locations. How nice - something new to check-out when I go back to the OK. gb.
Actually considered a weed species in the Canadian Okanagan. I visit Summerland regularly and there are a lot of volunteers along the Town's streets. Tough as nails.
