I'm wondering if the red berries are edible/usable in some way.

Check www.pfaf.org (Plants for a Future)...they list about a dozen species of Lonicera, with an emphasis on edibility. Looks like most they list in their database have edible leaves and flowers, but not berries (some do, but not many); only a couple rate highly on the edibility scale, however. As mentioned, some Lonicera are poisonous to humans...be sure you know which you're dealing with.

Just checked: they don't list L. tatarica (Arnold's red)...still, it's a good database for future questions re: edibility.
