Hi. I am new to the boards and not sure if I am on the right sight or not but here goes. I just bought a 5 gal Japanese Maple today (Home Depot on sale for $35!). The weather here has been in the 40's at night, 50's in the day. We are expecting to get frost tomorrow night. Should I plant this or should I keep it in the pot outside until spring? Thanks for any advice!
It will do fine in the ground. This is a good time to plant maples (and other woody plants) because it's a time of rapid root formation as the plant stores its energy for winter. So it should settle in nicely and look beautiful next spring. Nice-looking tree for $35!
