Dividing Iris plants

    Hi,
    Seeking advice on the best time and technique for dividing iris plants. I have several that need to be tidied up....thanks

    before blooming (early, early spring) or any time after blooms have faded and the rhizome has had time to be nourished for next year - which would be mid- to late-summer and into the fall. when the leaves start to brown up is indication that they're about done feeding the rhizome.

    just dig up and break apart and then replant.
