Hi, this just developed over the last couple of days, and so far, only one of my four trees has been hit. It's a two-year-old tree in an oak half-barrel. Is this a water thing? Or an insect? I've read that periods of drought followed by rain can cause fruit to split, but I thought this was a problem only with tomatoes. June was quite dry here, and then we had some heavy rain this week (I'm in Vancouver). The tree is otherwise healthy (except for a lot of aphids)...should I remove the affected fruit? There are only 4 apples on the tree, and it looks like 3 are now ruined.....
    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'd been having a very hot/dry June and I thought I was being consistent with my watering....then we had very heavy rain and clouds. But I think the cracking started before the rain hit. I wonder if I've overwatered? That would be odd, since the tree is in a barrel and has good drainage...
