What is the best location for this plant to be placed. Ours is northwest exposure and has not bloomed in two years, but does appear to be healthy.

 

If it is only 2 years planted, it needs more time to mature before it starts flowering.

 

How old was it when it was planted?

 

Most cultivars sold flower in small sizes. A gallon pot size with flowers all over it is not a rare sight. Was this one in bloom when purchased? If not, perhaps its identity as a weigela comes into question. Does it have the right leaves and stems?

Purchaed new from garden centre in 2003. Presume it was new. Flowered in 2004, but not since.

Wiegela flowers on shoots produced the previous year. Prune AFTER flowering. To encourage new shoots and plenty of flowers cut out one stem in three...This will also prevent the shrub from becoming woody. You most likely cut away the shoots that would have bloomed.
