One of the new branches of my ZZ plant just broke off at the base this morning. Maybe it was just too tall and heavy and broke. Is this common? Should I plant the branch in new soil right away, and will it even take? What kind of soil and pot should I plant it in? Please help. Any info will be great. If you need pictures I'll post them. Thanks.

You can plant the indiviudal leaves and grow new plants but not the stalk. That will not root. There are many discussions on this forum about Zamioculcas zamiifolia which you can find by using the search engine at the top of the page. Be sure and use the scientific name as I gave it. Here's a good one:

The ZZ plant is an unusual aroid and one of very few that will start new plants beginning with a leaf.
