Zelkove serrata

    Could this be Zelkova serrata ?
    It's growing in Maryland by the bay, behind Assateague.
    It was not planted by the owner.
    It just came up.

    Chestnut has furrowed bark ?

    Yes, but only on old trees. On young ones like the tree in the pic, it is smooth.
