A friend recently moved into a new apartment building, one of those monsters by Marine, in sight of that ghastly monument of a Golden Stump where the Canada Line comes up to breathe. He has a row of Supplied Yews and one Supplied Tree. Do you know what his tree might be? It was planted by the same monster-corporation that built the towers. Thank you.

Ron, thank you very much! I'm surprised, as I felt these would be "just ordinary" trees. A magnolia would be a lovely cheerful plant to delight my friend this spring. Now that you mention it, I do walk very often along False Creek between the Sylvia Hotel and Yaletown; and there is a nice array of Magnolia stellata trees northwest of the Granville Bridge near the big yacht club that blocks the walk). They also have the tree habit, but I didn't relate my friend's tree. Very nice! And thank you. /C
