    Dear All,

I planted a young peach tree in the fall. It's now about 7' tall, perhaps 1.5 cm in diameter at the base, so very slender, with just a handful for even more slender side branches. In early spring, it was all covered in blooms and is now amazingly developing lots of fruit, some as big as 2 cm already (and we haven't even had any warm weather yet!). This is all of course lovely and highly desirable, but I just don't see this ending well with 6 ripe peaches on a branch that's a foot long and 0.5 cm in diameter.

So I think the options are: chop off much of the fruit now before it does any damage (heart-wrenching!) or try staking every branch, perhaps even in a couple of places.

Some advice please? What works and what doesn't?

    Thank you!

You answered your own question. Yes you will have to thin out the fruit and probably still support the branches.
