Wildflowers: Yellow Michigan wildflower

    Can you please help me identify the wildflower shown in these photos?

    The photos were taken in September 2014 at the Robert H. Long Nature Park in Oakland County, Michigan.

    The plant was bush-like and about 1.5 feet tall. It grew at the edge of a path through an area of thick brush.

    Looks like Oenothera sp.

    But it is yellow. Is Oenothera speciosa yellow? I thought it was white or light pink usually.

    I had thought that this might be Oenothera biennis, but I am not knowledgeable enough about this to know how to know. Any thoughts?

    Those yellow Oenothera can be difficult to speciate. At least you don't have as many in Michigan as I do down here. This link might help to narrow it down. Click on "Subordinate Taxa".
