I'm trying to identify the flowers in our garden. They have been coming up and spreading since we bought the house, planted by the previous owner. Originally after a cursory guess I thought they were black eyed susans but they're not black in the middle for one thing, and the leaves are different. Also thought they might be Prairie Coreopsis but again the serrated leaves don't match.

The picture was taken at the end of June. Currently the plants are getting big but not showing flowers yet.

I'd like to transplant some to another area and would like to know what I'm dealing with first.

    Thanks,
    Todd

Yes, it certainly looks like Heliopsis helianthoides, thank you very much.

    DYC's?

Except for a question regarding the number of rays(petals), I would agree with the above comments. I do not recall ever seeing the described plant before, to my knowledge. However, my first impression upon seeing the pix was 'Wedelia'. Not the trilobata, for sure, but one of the varieties.

DYC's Darned Yellow Composites (politically correct version)

I'll let you guess the other version ;-)
