Could you please help me identify this yellow flowering tree? The photos attached were taken earlier this month (June 2014) in Kuching, Sarawak on Borneo. Thank you.
The inflorescence of the plant in question is erect which rules out Cassia fistula. Peltophorum pterocarpum has wider and shorter seed pods that turn purplish brown.
A few Senna spp. grow to tree size, e.g. S. siamea, which this resembles in leaf and inflorescence though I'm not sure about the pods. Note that the leaves are pinnate, not bipinnate as in Peltophorum.
