Yellow "flower", six petals.

    This is in a couple of gardens down the street, and it seems to do really well in their shady spaces. I would like to know what it's called so I can either get some, or avoid it, if it's a weed :) Thank you!

    thanks! I googled that, and indeed, that is exactly what grows in my neighbour's yard. I guess it's considered a weed, though? Hmmm, I'd like something to grow beneath or around my hemlock tree so that my dog stays out of the garden, and it looks like this could work *if* I can control it...

    I would steer clear unless you are willing to weed to keep under control. I have a small version that has purple flowers that is much more contollable. I am assuming it belongs to the same family. Just does not get so carried away and is a really nice shade and rockery plant.

    thanks for the advice. I think I'll look for the purple version, because the yellow one grows out of control at the neighbour's place. I did like the variegated leaves though...
