I moved again. I’m in Rome, Italy with a balcony. This is a common container plant here, as well as garden shrub. (I’ve seen it in Tuscany, too). So, I’ve been told it’s a ‘Margherita’, but is it in the daisy family? What’s it’s official name?

I wonder if it is what we call “marguerite daisy”

It is a longtime, old and common summer annual in BC Canada (rarely makes it thru winter)

If we lived in central to southern coastal California - well it would live much longer cuz of better climate for tender plants

I note on this Wiki it says it has spread quite freely around the Mediterranean -

Some of the modern ones from big wholesalers don’t need as much deadheading to get a repeat bloom - but usually a pair of scissors in one hand & cup of coffee in other can make quick work of a simple chore.

Thank you both. Yes, it's definitely naturalized here. I believe it's got the grayish leaves. In the 'trunk' photo, you can see the smaller roots at the crown are visible. Is it okay for them to be exposed or should I pile up a bit more dirt around the crown?
