For a few years now, I have found this wildflower (perennial?) growing in my area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (near Manistique). I showed pictures to a friend of mine, who is a Master Gardener in this area, and she was not familiar with the plant either. The plant grows approximately 2 1/2-3' tall. They were blooming in the middle of September. Thank you for any information.
