I'm new to the plant kingdom and I need some help. I recently started as a groundskeeper at a retirement home and I'm soaking up all the information I can. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Here's the deal. Iowa had a bitter cold winter this year and it seems to of done some damage to our yews. About 3/4 of the bushes on our property look burnt out, bare and brown. About 3/4 of the plant itself looks this way. Some people have said to fertilize it and see what happens. Post a response if you can help. Thanks. ~Adam
Skip the fertiliser, it won't do any good. Keep an eye on them to see what regrowth you get, then in a couple of months from now, prune off all the dead foliage just above the highest new green growth.
