I planted a 14ft willow oak last December and it has been growing fine. Three days ago, I noticed that sap has been running down the trunk. There appears to be a small spot about 4.5 ft up the trunk were sap is coming out and running to the base of the tree. What can be causing this?
    Thanks!

i posted the same question last year

we ended up having to remove 7 of these scarlet oaks that developed this bacterial cambium infection. we saw this foamy, white substance oozing from the trunks during this time last year. the bark on the trunk and scaffold branches literally burst from the pressure. craziest thing. here is a link to another discussion about the same thing.
