Will pruning 2-month old branches help the branch fork out?

I got Blireiana plum two months ago now it's growing long branches like crazy.
I was wondering if I clipped a 2-month old branch ( that's about 2 feet long ) will it help new branches to fork out [so that the tree would look more 'full'] or should I wait until those branches are at a certain age?

They're still too young to show any "node" or "lump" that would be potential branches.

I understand annual and biannual pruning but I've never had to deal with rapid growth

Unless coming from below a graft union I would just leave them. Long, strong young branches produce the most flowers. Tree also has a tendency to become twiggy and congested that I would not do anything to encourage.
