trees from Christmas island, Australia Hello, Here are : - a fruit that was on the ground amongst a bunch of others. It's empty inside and has a very soft shell. But may be it's in fact a flower ? - the other picture is from a big flowering tree seen in some properties, so it might have been imported on the island ? So if someone can help me with their names .. Cheers
Hello, Is it someone that has a clue for the white wild fruit (or flower ?) found in groups on the ground ? For the one who have been lucky to visit Christmas Island, it was on the left part of the track leading to the Dales parking lot, and it was around mid-december this year. Cheers
No they were loose on the ground. iT was a very wet area where a little stream was running. The shell was very soft and completely empty. I would say that they were around 10 cm wide, like a big apple. Here is another view of it. So I don't know if it's a fruit or a part of a flower. I've been going to the place many times but there were none until they all appeared in big numbers
Hollowed-out insides of these? Syzygium samarangense. Java apple. Possibly first eaten by fruit bats?
