This is a wild orchid, one of those that grow in the woods not far from Moscow
Does anyone know the name of this orchid?
Maybe Dachtyloriza maculata ?
Beautiful orchid species. I checked my reference books and http://www.orchidspecies.com/indexqrsel.htm it fits for location and genus but seems to be too tall for described species. There are many varieties spread throughout Europe so it could just be a local variety of D. maculata (and information in references does vary). Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing this photo! It reminds me about forest not far from Moscow when I lived there. We even plant a few in our garden and they bloomed the whole summer.
Thats gorgeous and such a pretty color.
how many orchids are native to russia there must be a vast range for the geography of the location is so varying
Its common distribution from the Russian region to the Northern region of China and the DPRK, I found some at the Changbia Mountain last summer they are Gyanadenia conopsea.
Sorry, but the plant in the photo is clearly a Dactylorhiza. The shape of the flowers is different, and notice the spots too.
Beautiful. It seem there are not too much orchid growing in Russia.
