Any ideas what this wild woodland plant is, found in Southwest UK?

Also does anyone know of any good identification books? I get a little swamped by all the classifications etc. is it best to go from leaves, flowers, stems . . .

    Thanks for any replies.

For UK flora, try Blamey, M. & Grey-Wilson, C. (1989). Illustrated Flora of Britain and Northern Europe. If you're willing to try something a little more technical, anything by Clive Stace is very reliable, though fairly heavy going for beginners.
