In the south of Mexico at 1300 m of elevation during Octuber and November you see this (attached photo) bush about 2 m high full fo this beautiful yellow flowers. I hope someone knows what it is
The flower does look a lot like Baccharis - and teague is right, Baccharis tends to grow near water. If I were you I would check out the Asteraceae family watching for yellow flower clusters that are pendent, on plants that match the size. This leaf shape and vein pattern can narrow your search, as can the leaf arrangement (roughly 60% are alternate, 30% or so opposite, very few spiral).
I looked at more than 20 pages of pictures after my google search of "Baccharis" and unfortunately none of them truly matches my photo. Definetely there is no water near where I saw the plant, the area is rather dry, I think I go back to the area and take a picture of the tree/bush, then I will post it here. Thank you all anyway
I went to see the bush again and took a picture, I noticed that the flowers are very very aromatic, maybe that will help to ID it.
Nice lead Teague. Just went to the plantsystematics site. Typed Solidago in the form on their landing page. VERY promising Sigtris - many genera photos there - the flower color, arrangement, and size look very similar and leaves are identical.
Sigtris, that is such a beautiful shrub/tree. I am intrigued by it! In the background in your 2nd pic there appear to be upright seed pods, are they seed pods for the yellow flowers or something different? ( Maybe,a vine twining around a branch which I thought I could see?) I have had a close look at the flowers and cannot see any petals, they remind me of the flowers on a small perennial called Thalictrum, which obviously it is not! But that sort of airy delicate structure, all stigmas and not much else. http://www.stauder.net/bildearkiv/Thalictrum aquilegifolium 640.jpg
Silver surfer, there are no see pods for the "yellow flowers" I don´t what they are, I did not notice them when I went to to mountain to take the picture. I agree with you "such a beatiful shrub/tree." and the flowers have a perfume like Jazmin.
