Who knows that wildflower?

    We found ythis year in our garden this wildflower. I could not identy it - neither Audubon nor the web gave me an answer. Who can help?

    Looks like Potentilla recta to me.

    I agree P. recta. Sad to say it's a noxious weed (or at least 45 of the 50 states call it so). I misread the USDA page I was looking at. It seems that that is the number of states with noxious weed lists, not the number of states that list P. recta as one. You will have to check your local state to see if they have a list and if it named there. Harry
