I have been told by a very knowledgeable and experienced alpine gardener that Trillium sessile can occasionally have white flowers rather that the usual burgundy shades. Do you agree? I can't find anything so far on the web. (Photo from Wikipedia - Eric Hunt)
Thank you, Ron. I was already skeptical that Trillium sessile flowers could be white; now I am definitely more so.
Next question: was your source really talking about T. sessile or actually another of the multiple different trilliums with up facing flowers? Including white ones. Trillium in Flora of North America @ efloras.org
Answer: Yes, I think that is probably the case. I won't challenge my friend about it though - she's well into her 90s now; sharp as a tack and still propagating and growing alpines.
