    Hello All

I am a new user and was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I am having with my trees.

I have a trio of white oak trees clustered together that grew naturally. I do not know the trees age, the smallest tree trunk is 35" in circumference and the largest is 50 They are at least 75 tall. It has been my experience that these are messy trees, dropping small branches and occasionally larger dead branches, and thousands of acorns in the fall; this has been going on for the 10 years that I have lived here.

Recently, within the last months, these trees are dropping leaves, hundreds of leaves per day. It almost looks like the beginning of fall and since its mid July I am assuming something has gone awry.

About 3 weeks ago I noticed caterpillars around the trees, but as the years pass, this is/was quite normal for the area. And I do not know if this is the reason for the lost leaves or is it something else. When looking up at the leaves that are on the trees I see leaves with holes in them, other leaves without holes in them that are turning reddish brown and leaves that are brilliant green and appear healthy. The small branches, and small twigs that fall to the ground most have Green leaves still attached to them, they look as though they have been cut from the tree, but have not been. A neighbor down the block had a similar problem and had to have the trees cut down. The tree service company claimed that it was construction damage when these homes where built 10 years ago. Personally I found that hard to believe, but I assume it is a possibility.
Can anyone help me with this problem? I would really hate to loose these trees.

    Thanks in advance

    Chris
