I live in Southern California and just noticed a white, milky substance on some lavendar plants and other plants in my garden. The weather here recently has been warm and humid.

Does anyone know what would cause this to appear how it should be treated? Could this potentially kill my plants?

Re: How to stop white, milky fungus killing plants.

"Spit bugs"? - sorry I have no idea what the scientific names are of these guys & there are multitudes of species - love our lavender. There are some photos on the net. I ignore them, or gross-out the local kids by pretending to spit on the plants as they walk past (the lavendar grows on our boulevard).

If that's what they are, I find them harmless, interesting & amusing. If they really are a pest to your plants, a hose works great.
