I have a "pot" of bulbs that begin with a tall thin blade-leaf, not unlike a skinny iris blade, and blooms with a stem of white flowers (6 petals) and each petal with small dark purple pointed spot at the center. The blooms open from the bottom to the top, lasting about a day each. More buds, hence flowers, grow on the top of the stem. Cannot identify them in on-line search locals. Help MUCH appreciaated. Re: Help IDENTIFY: White flower with purple center WOW, what a quick response. THANK YOU -- I used the name and found it in several places. Didn't have any idea that it belonged in the "glad" family. Margie in FL
This flower seems to have had several names before! At one time it was called Acidanthera. http://www.google.co.uk/images?hl=e...=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1247&bih=529 Another time Gladiolus callianthus. http://www.google.co.uk/images?hl=e...=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1247&bih=529 Now it is Gladiolus murielae..... maybe it will be changed yet again! http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=Gl...&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1247&bih=529
